Ute Trail Marker

The Ute Trail Marker in LaVern Johnson Park was washed away in the 2013 flood. The LAHC decided to work on replacing the sign and adding some art to it. The LAHC approached the Southern Ute Tribe and requested an artist recommendation and were put in contact with sculptor Oreland Joe. The Sculpture called "Trail of Treaties" has been installed on a plinth created by local masons from Blue Mountain Stone.

The LAHC and the Town of Lyons are currently working on an interpretative sign that is funded through a grant from History Colorado. The sign will further explain the significance and history of the land where the marker is placed. Ute Trail Sculpture
