All Town of Lyons Recreation Classes are offered with the following safety precautions:
1. Class sizes are smaller to allow for social distancing if necessary.
2. Classes follow state, county and local Covid-19 guidelines.
3. Please do not attend class if you are feeling unwell.

Women's Mountain Biking With Ann Trombley
Lyons' own former Olympian Ann Trombley is back with another fun series. This class is for those with a bit of experience and will review neutral-ready and braking, focus on front and rear wheel lifts and then dive into ratcheting, slow speed corners, switchbacks, rock dodge, track stands and tight corners. The class wraps up with level lifts, rolldown lunges, small launches and wheelies. Each participant needs to arrive with a mountain bike in good working order, a helmet, water and dressed for the weather. Get together with your women friends for some fun on the trails.

In Colorado, any hunter born after January 1, 1949 is required to take a 15 hour course before purchasing a hunting license. Hunter Education certificates are valid in all states and are good for life. Areas to be touched on during this course include: gun and archery safety, ethics, survival, conservation, wildlife management, game identification, hunting laws, field care of game, and the philosophy of hunting. The class includes a shooting exercise after the the firearm safety section is completed. This class is taught by Mike Hora who has decades of experience teaching Hunter's Education.

Women's Mountain Biking: Upping Your Game
This 3-week series is for advanced beginner and intermediate riders who have mastered the mountain bike basics such as body positioning, braking, and scanning and want to enhance their skills. We'll practice techniques for braking, steering, cornering, wheel lifts, climbing, descending, roll downs, and ratcheting. An optional "friends" guided trail ride will be planned as an added bonus. This class is taught by BICP certified instructor and Lyons local Jonelle Tucker, whose main goal is to share her love for mountain biking while helping you become a safer and more efficient rider. You will need a mountain bike in good working order, helmet, gloves, water, snacks, and sunscreen. Bring a mask if you're not vaccinated.

Seasonal Kayak Rentals
Rent a kayak from the town of Lyons. We have a variety of sizes to choose from but most are for kids. All kayaks are singles. All rentals come with a kayak, paddle, life vest, and helmet. Spray skirts available for an additional charge. All rentals require a refundable $100 deposit.

Adult Coed Recreational Softball
At long last adult softball is returning to Lyons. Grab your teammates, get out that old leather glove, and get to the ballfields for some exercise and FUN! This summer we are offering an 8 week session, with games every Wednesday evening from June 30th to August 18th. A minimum of 6 teams are needed for the league to run. Each team must have a minimum of 8 players, including at least 4 women. The maximum number of players allowed per team is 16. Depending on the number of teams a by week may be scheduled for your team. No experience is necessary to play. You can request a specific teammate, coach, and/or team. If you are a free agent we will find a team for you. Players provide all their own gear, including uniforms. Lyons provides the field, game ball, and umpires. Information packet available in the forms section during registration.

Gonzo Tennis Programs
Tennis is coming back to Lyons! Founded in 2004 by Gonzo Garcia, Gonzo Tennis aims to bring quality tennis programs to Boulder County. Divided into different levels based on age and ability, these game based lessons use specific exercises and games to help students learn the different aspects of tennis. Classes offered for kids and adults with private lessons available too. Bring a racket if you have one or one will be provided for you. Check below for levels, dates and times. Sign up today!

Senior Exercise Group
Come join our senior exercise group and get out in the fresh air while enjoying stimulating conversation. On Tuesdays we'll do some exercises involving hand weights and bands, along with some aerobics. Chairs will be available for those who prefer to sit and exercise. On Thursdays we start off with a 30 minute walk. Walkers are encouraged to go at their own pace and all exercises can be modified to accommodate any fitness level. Both classes will end with some gentle stretching and yoga in Bohn Park. Don't forget to bring a water bottle and you may bring your own hand weights and yoga mat if you prefer.
Class is weather dependent with cancellations due to thunderstorms or heavy rain.

Challenger Soccer Camp
Challenger Soccer Camps provide players of all ages and abilities with the rare opportunity to receive high-level soccer coaching from a team of international experts. Each day includes individual foot skills, technical drills, tactical practices, small-sided games, coached scrimmages, and a daily tournament. Equally important, the Challenger coaching staff provides your child with lessons in respect, responsibility, integrity, sportsmanship and leadership. Camp programs include a free ball and shirt and a free British Soccer jersey for online registrations 45 days prior to camp.

Square State Skate's Summer Skateboard Camps
Learn how to be safe and have fun on your skateboard while riding some of the best parks in the Front Range. We'll skate our "home park" in the morning - the brand new Team Pain built Lyons Skatepark - before jumping on our Skate Bus to check out different parks in the area, explore a variety of terrains, and visit multiple skater-owned skate shops. We'll explore all the different areas of street and skatepark riding, from safety and etiquette to advanced park riding. We will also go swimming once a week. Come make new friends, have fun, and be a part of our active skateboard community.
Run by professional educators, our commitment to families and the community is paramount and our techniques are unmatched when it comes to helping kids grow and learn, both on and off their skateboard. Pleas bring a skateboard, helmet (other pads recommended), a healthy lunch, water bottle, sunscreen and some good energy.
