Current Recreation Programs

Women's Basic Bike Mechanics

Our favorite women's mountain bike instructor, Ann Trombley,  is back and ready to teach you the basics so you can fix any problem on the trails.  Don't walk that bike back home or wait for someone to come along and help.  Ann can give you the skills you need to be self sufficient.  Bring your bike and tools to each class along with a headlamp for individual work. Classes take place outside so please dress appropriately and don't forget your mask. Propane heaters will be available.

Session 1: Fixing Flat Tires
What do you do when your tire goes flat? Not to worry!  In this class you will learn to fix a flat on your very own bike using more than one technique. Bring your bike, a spare tube, 2 tire irons, a multi-tool, and a pump.  If you have tubeless tires bring some Stans or Tire Sealant. Grab this equipment from your local bike shop. It's good to have with you on every ride. Setting up your suspension correctly will be discussed if time allows.

Session 2: Brake and Gear Adjustment
Are your brakes rubbing? Is your bike not shifting properly? Is your chain getting stuck?  Learn what that means and how to do basic adjustments and trouble shoot problems.  Bring your bike and multi-tool.

Ages: 15 and up
Dates: Session 1:  TBD
           Session 2:   TBD
Location: St Vrain Shelter at LaVern Johnson Park
Fee:  $25 per session or $45 for both
