Kayak Rental Program



      Have some fun in the river this summer--rent a kayak from the Town of Lyons!  All rentals come with a kayak, paddle, life vest and helmet. All kayaks are singles. Rental kayak pick up is by appointment only.  Please call number below to schedule. 

PRICE LIST
One week rental: $60.
Two week rental: $ 100.
One month rental:  $175.
Rest of season rental (until Sept. 15th): $225.

Spray skirt rental: $15. for up to a month
                             $25. for more than a month 

Deposit required for all rentals: $250.

Fitness in the Park



This action packed class is all about helping you get outside and getting your body moving correctly.  Taught by certified Health Coach and former X Pro Snowboarder Nate Kern, this class takes place in the inspiring setting of LaVern Johnson park and uses park features to aid in your workout.  If you want to build strength, improve cardiovascular fitness, and reduce stress this class is for you.  Join us for these fun and functional movement training sessions.  Please bring water and a towel.  Mats are optional. 
Current Covid-19 regulations will be practiced in regards to social distancing allowing you to exercise without a mask if you prefer.   Please bring a mask to wear when passing within 6' of others. 

Ages: adults and kids ages 10+
Dates: Tuesdays and Fridays, 7 am- 8 am, 
           Saturdays, 8:30 am- 9:30 am, until Sept 30th

Plein Air Painting



Enjoy our beautiful Lyons scenery while learning or improving on your watercolor techniques in this class offered in a park setting. Colors are brighter and the play of light adds new dimensions to the craft when practiced outdoors.  Listen to the birds chirping, feel a gentle breeze and incorporate the sights before you into colors on the canvas. You will practice brushstroke technique, color blending, and learn the values and shapes of a botanical setting.  Taught by Trish Murtha, an artist with over 30 years of experience in teaching to all ages, this class promises a new perspective on traditional watercolor.  
Covid-19 precautions for this class include social distancing and separate supplies will be provided for the use of each student.  Please bring a mask to wear when within 6' of others.

Women's Mountain Biking Fall Class



Join Lyons Recreation for another fun-filled class with Lyons local and former Olympian Ann Trombley.  Whether you're new to the trails or looking to build on what you already know, Ann has the skills to get you there.  The sessions will focus on braking, front and rear wheel lifts, ratcheting, switchbacks, rock dodge, track stands, tight corners and more. Start fresh with this class or build on what you learned in June.  Each participant must arrive with a fully functional mountain bike, a helmet and a water bottle and be prepared for changing weather conditions. 

Ages: 15-105+
Dates:  Wednesdays, 5:30-7:30 pm, Sept. 2, 9, 16 and 23
Location: meets at Bohn Park Dirt Bike Park

Meditation Basics Workshop



Learn the basics of meditation or fine tune your practice in this workshop offered in a tranquil park setting. The class will start with easy-to-digest theory, discussing different types of meditation as well as various ways to meditate.  The experiential part will follow as we try on several guided practices in order to have a variety of choices.  The workshop concludes with a Q&A where we integrate the learning and experiences as well as answer any questions you may have about  meditation. This workshop is taught by Lyons local Katra Hropova, who has studied mindfulness for many years and holds certifications in Meditation, Yoga and Life Coaching.  
Please bring a water bottle and a yoga mat or small chair for your meditation practice.  The class will adhere to social distancing guidelines. Bring a mask to wear when within 6' of others.

            September session: Saturday, 9-11 am, September 12
             October session: Saturday, 9-11 am, October 10
