2. Town of Lyons Golf Car/Cart Registration

   This form is to register your golf car(t), electric powered vehicle, or solar powered vehicle with the Town of Lyons, and is required by code.

   Per Lyons Municipal Code 8-3-10 (b)(4), all Golf Car(t)s shall be registered by law. Owners who do not register their car(t)s will be subject to a financial penalty.

17. Town of Lyons: Municipal Code 8-3-10 Requirements

    The following are the Town of Lyons rules for safe operation of golf cars/carts:

    - The operator must hold a valid driver's license.

    - Vehicle is  required to have a rear view mirror.

    - The speed of shall not exceed twenty (20) miles per hour.

    - Shall display the emblem "slow moving vehicle" to be visible from a distance of twenty-five (25) yards from the back eg: (orange triangular sign).

    -Shall be properly equipped and registered as provided by law.

    - Any person age eighteen (18) or younger must be secured by at least a two-point safety harness (seat belt) at all times while operating or riding in a golf car/cart on Town streets or rights-of-way. 

    - No golf car/cart may be operated on any state highway within the Town limits, except for crossing a state highway at a designated street intersection. Note that both Broadway  and Main Street are part of US Highway 36.

    - No owner or operator shall carry a greater number of persons or a greater load than the car/cart is designed for. The driver and all passengers must be seated in the seat(s) designed and intended for such purpose.

    - No person shall operate a golf car/cart on a Town-owned or maintained trail, except as permitted and posted by the Town.

    - Golf car/cart operators must comply with all provisions of the Model Traffic Code, the Lyons Municipal Code and C.R.S. Title 42 related to traffic rules and regulations.

21. Additional Operational Guidelines:
    - Move over and allow vehicles to pass when traffic is present

    - Do not operate at night without working lights

    - Must stop at red lights, stop signs, and before pedestrian crosswalks when pedestrians are present

    - If your car/cart is not equipped with turning signals, use hand signals when turning

    - Do not drive on sidewalks or trails unless posted as allowed

    - As with all vehicles, drivers may not be under the influence of drugs or alcohol when driving (same as a vehicle D.U.I.)
