Stage 1 Fire Restrictions 

Western Boulder County and USFS lands

Due to current conditions, the Arapaho and Roosevelt National Forests have enacted Stage 1 fire restrictions across National Forest lands in Boulder, Clear Creek, Gilpin, Jefferson and Larimer counties. In addition, Sheriff Curtis Johnson has enacted Stage 1 Fire Restrictions,  for unincorporated areas of western Boulder County. The fire restrictions are in place due to overall lack of moisture combined with recent hot temperatures. 


Road Construction on US-36

Night Work Along US-36  

Sign replacement project 


Residents are advised that CDOT will be replacing signs along the US-36 corridor from Jay Rd in Boulder to the US-36/US-34 intersection in Estes Park.

In general, night work will be from 6 pm to 7 am Monday through Thursday and 10 pm to 7 am on Friday through Sunday, with alternating lane closures. For more details on the project, visit the CDOT website https://www.codot.gov/projects/us36signestesparktoboulder

Wildfire Mitigation Rebate 

 For Wildfire Mitigation Efforts

Residents of the Town of Lyons may be eligible for a match of up to $500 towards wildfire mitigation activities via a rebate. The Lyons program will utilize the same eligible mitigation activities as Boulder County but will also require an Individual Home Assessment which is offered by Wildfire Partners. Please note that Boulder County does NOT require a home assessment to claim a rebate. For full details and to apply and learn more, visit the town’s website:

School Returns

Road Work and Improvements

Continue this week

The contractors are making progress on the road improvements in the north of town, that include repaving some streets north of Main Street, installing curb and gutter, and upgrading storm drainage along various streets in Town. These improvements will enhance safety, drainage, and street quality. They are scheduled to chip seal Stone Canyon Road in late August, with striping to take place in early September.

Fire Mitigation Work

Begins week of Aug 25
Lyons Valley Park and Martin Parcel

The Town of Lyons is continuing wildfire mitigation efforts in partnership with J&K Contracting. Upcoming work will focus on reducing dead trees, downed wood, and ladder fuels to improve safety and forest health.

Lyons Valley Park / Lyons Valley Townhomes Area

  • South of the subdivision and townhomes, east of Lyons Middle Senior High School (the parcel where goats recently grazed).

  • Work begins week of August 25 and may last up to 5 days.

  • Crews will stage equipment along the South Ledge Ditch service road, with periodic closures for safety.

Martin Parcel (west of Bohn Park, near skatepark)

  • Work begins week of September 1and is expected to continue throughout the week.

  • The entire Martin Parcel will be closed to the public during this time.


There will be temporary closures while crews are on-site, to access the removal of dead and downed trees. Please respect all posted closures for your safety and the safety of the crews.



Municipal Flag Design

Lyons Municipal Flag Design

The Lyons Arts and Humanities Commission (LAHC), is proud to announce a Call to Artists for the design of its first official municipal flag— a symbol that will capture the essence of Lyons’ identity, celebrate its cultural heritage, and inspire future generations. The selected artist will receive a $500 stipend for their design. For more information visit:
