Diffuse Knapweed

Diffuse Knapweed

Noxious Weed - List B

Diffuse knapweed is an invasive plant that is unfortunately found in many locations across Lyons. Its life cycle occurs over two years: during the first, the plant is a rosette and during the second the plant sprouts, flowers, and dies. Once Diffuse Knapweed dies it becomes a tumbleweed that the wind will push across town. This means residents need to watch for this plant and if spotted on your property, pull the plant and dispose of it. If you mow it or pull it and leave the plant on the ground, it will blow away and disperse up to 18,000 seeds per plant.
Whichever way you work to remove it, be sure you bag it and dispose of the plant properly.
