Alexander Mountain Fire UpdateNear US-34 West of Loveland
Tuesday, July 30, 2024 9:45 AM The National Weather Service has issued a RED FLAG WARNING in effect today from noon till 8 pm due to gusty winds and low humidity. No open burning is allowed on any land, private or public. The Arapaho and Roosevelt National Forests along with Larimer County and other federal, state, and local resources responded to reports of a fire on Alexander Mountain at approximately 10:30 a.m. on Monday, July 29, 2024. Per the US Forest Service, as of 6 am today, July 30, 2024 the fire is 992 acres with 0% containment. Multiple air resources dropped water & fire retardant yesterday. Over 200 ground resources are on scene. Airplanes and helicopters will be working to help secure the fire perimeter and protect values at risk. High temperatures & low humidity expected today over the fire area. Significant smoke is expected over the next few days, with heavier impacts in the morning to sensitive populations.
At 6 a.m. on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, a USDA Forest Service Type 3 Incident Management Team took command of the fire. Larimer County Sheriff's Office will continue to operate the Joint Information Center and provide information about evacuation notices, animal evacuations and road closures.
