Community + Conservation! Success
The Boulder Valley and Longmont Conservation District donated trees to the Rocky Mountain Botanical Garden in Lyons and to the Lyons Cemetery. In late April, staff from the Colorado State Forest Service, the Lyons Lions, and the Lyons Lions LEO Club (our teen-run civic organization) and other volunteers helped to plant 49 eastern red cedars in the Lyons Cemetery. Thanks to all who participated!

Left Hand Watershed Center Report
The Left Hand Watershed Center has issued a report regarding a post-impact assessment following the tanker spill along US-36 in late April.
The Watershed Center’s assessment indicates post- rollover impacts to the fish and benthic macroinvertebrate (BMI) community. BMI are the bugs that live in the creek, are a food source for fish, and are indicators of water quality. Their priorities are to coordinate with local agencies and experts on the findings and continue monitoring these locations into the future.
