Snow Plow Plan Response

Snow Response & Utilities

Public works and utilities staff are preparing for the upcoming snow storm.  Staff will work to get the critical hillside roads, as well as the main roads first and will return to plow the secondary roads and then the alleys.

If you experience a power outage, over the weekend, please call the non-emergency dispatch number, 303-441-4444 if you lose power.

Additional storm preparation details were posted yesterday. Let's continue to take care of each other, be prepared and stay safe Lyons!

Waterline Maintenance

Water Valve Replacement

Monday and Tuesday, March 15-16

The Town plans to replace one of its 5 large pressure reducing valves on Tuesday Mar 16th.  The valve is located on Fifth Ave. at Bloomfield Alley.  Fifth Ave will be closed during the day on Monday March 15th for prep work and Tuesday Mar 16th for the actual valve change.  There will be no parking on 5th Ave between Bloomfield Alley and High St. on these 2 days as we will need to have large equipment in the area.

This water outage will effect residents on Steamboat Valley Rd, Vasquez Rd, Horizon Ave, Longs Peak and Mountain View. Other residents north of High St., from Fifth Ave to First Ave may experience lower pressure while this valve is being replaced. Water will be turned off at 8:30 am and will remain off until the new valve is installed. We expect the water to be turned on by 2 pm the same day.

As a reminder, any time there is maintenance work on any water system pipes or pressure, we recommend running your cold water if you have any discoloration, until the water runs clear.

An Evening with An Author

Recyling Reminders

Recycling Reminders!

Contamination to single stream recycling is a huge problem: plastic bags cause machinery to jam; food scraps and liquids splatter workers; and non-recyclable materials reduce the value of the sorted materials driving the cost up for everyone.

Take an extra moment and rinse bottles/cans/food products. Please NO plastic bags ever at the recycle bins.

In addition, curbside compost collection is now offered in Lyons. Curious about composting? Check out this video to see what is compostable!

The Town and volunteers are currently discussing the feasibility of being able to host a safe, spring clean up event later this year, amidst COVID regulations.

Please review and follow the single stream recycling guidance.
