Bohn Park Stormwater Improvement Project

This project entails enlarging the storm detention ponds in Bohn Park and installing new larger storm drain between the ponds as well as their connection to the storm drain system on 2nd Avenue.  The current schedule is to be ongoing and be complete by the end of October.

What’s happening 9/20 – 9/24?

Installing storm drain pipe into Bohn Park
Completing construction of the new storm drain inlets on 2nd Ave
Enlarging the detention ponds between the tennis courts and 2nd Ave
Reconstruction of sidewalk and curb and gutter along 2nd Ave

What’s happening the week of 9/27 – 10/1?

Enlarging the detention ponds between the tennis courts and 2nd Ave
Prep and place asphalt on 2nd Ave
Restripe 2nd Ave

What’s happening the week of 10/4 – 10/8?

Enlarging the detention ponds between the tennis courts and 2nd Ave
Reconstruction of irrigation in Bohn Park
Apply topsoil and seed on project site

All work described is subject to change based on weather conditions and materials supply.

Traffic Impacts –Next week, 2nd Avenue will remain open for the remainder of the project, except during concrete and asphalt placements. Those placements will include temporary day closures to complete the work safely. The concrete placements are anticipated to occur next week and asphalt will occur during the week of 9/27.
Construction equipment will continue to cross 2nd Ave to transport materials from the staging area to the detention pond construction area.  Parking will still be made available in the Wastewater Treatment Plant parking area if needed.  

Safety concerns – As work switches to the Bohn Park area, park users are encouraged to stay away from the construction equipment traffic around the detention ponds between the tennis courts and 2nd Ave.  Please give the equipment space to work and do not impede their work space for your safety.  This project will continue to have deep open trenches while they install the new storm drain, so please avoid getting close to these areas. As always, please adhere to the traffic control devices signs, closures and detours.   

PLEASE ALL PEDESTRIANS, HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS AND PARK USERS ADHERE TO THE PEDESTRAIN DETOUR THRU THE PARK AND DO NOT WALK THRU THE WORK ZONE!!!!
