COVID-19 SAFETY PRECAUTIONS FOR ALL CLASSES



All Town of Lyons Recreation Classes are offered with the following safety precautions:

1.  Classes are held outside.
2.  Masks are required to be worn when within 6' of others. 
3.  Class sizes are smaller to allow for social distancing. 
4.  Classes follow state, county and local Covid-19 guidelines.
5.  Classes using shared equipment recommend gloves and provide hand sanitizer.
 6.  Shared equipment is cleaned before and after each class.

Adult Coed Recreational Softball

At long last adult softball is returning to Lyons. Grab your teammates, get out that old leather glove, and get to the ballfields for some exercise and FUN!  This summer we are offering an 8 week session, with games every Wednesday evening from June 30th to August 18th. A minimum of 6 teams are needed for the league to run. Each team must have a minimum of 8 players, including at least 4 women. The maximum number of players allowed per team is 16. Depending on the number of teams a by week may be scheduled for your team. No experience is necessary to play. You can request a specific teammate, coach, and/or team.  If you are a free agent we will find a team for you. Players provide all their own gear, including uniforms. Lyons provides the field, game ball, and umpires. Information packet available in the forms section during registration.

Women's Mountain Biking

Former Olympian Ann Trombley is bringing her fun teaching style back this summer. Whether you're just starting out or are an intermediate rider, this class promises to improve your technique.  Skills covered include neutral ready and braking, wheel lifts, climbing and descending, and cornering at low and high speeds. All participants should arrive with a mountain bike in good working order, a helmet and a water bottle, and dressed for changing weather conditions. Get ready to have a great time on the trails!

Gonzo Tennis Programs

Tennis is coming back to Lyons!  Founded in 2004 by Gonzo Garcia, Gonzo Tennis aims to bring quality tennis programs to Boulder County. Divided into different levels based on age and ability, these game based lessons use specific exercises and games to help students learn the different aspects of tennis. Classes offered for kids and adults with private lessons available too. Bring a racket if you have one or one will be provided for you. Check below for levels, dates and times.  Sign up today!

Zumba for Kids

Feel the music, move to the music, and get outside!  This fun and active class features choreographed kid-appropriate dance moves set to favorite songs. Kids are assigned their own 6' dance circle to guarantee social distancing. Classes include introductions, lots of dancing, and setting intentions for the following week. Taught by Lyons local, Genevieve Thomas, a former kids camp director and certified Kids Zumba instructor.  Don't forget your water bottle.  Profits from this class will be donated to LEAF.  Come welcome in spring while dancing in the park.

Women's Bike Mechanics Clinics



You love to ride your bike now learn how to take care of it!  Basic mechanics are easier than you think.  Enjoy the freedom that comes with knowing you can be self sufficient when you go for that long ride on the streets or trails. Lyons own Ann Trombley, former Olympian and mountain bike coach, is back with 2 clinics designed to teach you the basics of caring for your bike.


Session I will focus on how to fix a flat and brake adjustment. Bring your bike, spare tube, tire irons, multi-tool, Stans or Tubless tire sealant, and a pump.


Session II will focus on shock and derailleur (shifting) adjustment and also how to fix a chain if time allows.  Bring your bike, multi-tool, and your choice of chain lube.


Ages: 15 - 100+

Dates: Session I, Wednesday, 5:30 - 7 pm, April 28

           Session II, Wednesday,  5:30 - 7 pm, May 12

Square State Skate's Saturday Skateboard Sessions



  Come shred with Square State Skate's experienced staff at Bohn Park's brand new skatepark.  In this lesson-based program, we set building blocks for safety and learning on boards.  We skate together, play skate-related games, work on new skills and tricks, and learn about skateboarding history. Run by professional educators, SSS's commitment to families and the community is paramount and our techniques are unmatched when it comes to helping kids grow and learn, both on and off their skateboards.  A helmet and skateboard (let us know if you need a loaner) are required for this class and other pads are recommended.  Bring a water bottle, sunscreen, some energy and a smile and get ready to have fun!  Please bring a mask to wear when within 6' of others.  Class is weather dependent with cancellations due to severe weather.

Square State Skate's After School Club



Learn how to be safe while having fun on your skateboard.  We welcome skaters of all skill levels.  We will work on everything from learning how to stand and roll on your board to challenging yourself with new tricks.  Build up to advanced park riding as we explore all of the different features of the amazing Lyons Skatepark.  We will skate together, play skate related games, have trick clinics and learn about skateboarding history.  A helmet and skateboard are required for this class.  Bring a water bottle, sunscreen and a mask to wear when within 6' of others.

Wednesday Walkers Exercise Group for Seniors



Come join our senior exercise group and get out in the fresh air while enjoying stimulating conversation. We meet near the Walt Self parking lot and walk from there to a local park where we stop for some group exercises and gentle stretching before heading back to Walt Self.  Walkers are encouraged to go at their own pace and all exercises can be modified to accommodate any fitness level.  Class is weather dependent with cancellations due to icy conditions, snow, rain, or temperatures below 40- 45 degrees.  

Ages: 55 and up
Dates:  Wednesdays, 11 am - 12 noon, year round, weather permitting
Location: meets at Walt Self parking lot; 335 Railroad Ave

Square State Skate Summer Lessons



Over this week long program participants will learn how to safely progress while having fun on a skateboard. We welcome skaters of all ages and skill levels to join us as we work on everything from learning how to stand and roll on your skateboard to challenging yourself with tricks. Build up to advance park riding as we explore all the different features of the brand new Lyons Skatepark.  We will skate together, play some skate-related games, learn about skateboarding history, and enjoy the unique and active skateboarding community. Run by professional educators, SSS has more experience engaging youth, directing programs and skating with kids than any other program around. Our techniques are unmatched when it comes to helping kids grow and learn.  A helmet and skateboard (let us know if you need a loaner) are required for this class and other pads are recommended.  Bring a water bottle, sunscreen, some energy and a smile and get ready to have fun!  Please bring a mask to wear when within 6' of others.

SUMMER CAMPS


Challenger Soccer Camp



Challenger Soccer Camps provide players of all ages and abilities with the rare opportunity to receive high-level soccer coaching from a team of international experts. Each day includes individual foot skills, technical drills, tactical practices, small-sided games, coached scrimmages, and a daily tournament. Equally important, the Challenger coaching staff provides your child with lessons in respect, responsibility, integrity, sportsmanship and leadership. Camp programs include a free ball and shirt and a free British Soccer jersey for online registrations
 45 days prior to camp.

Early bird special: Register before the end of February and receive a FREE custom poster of your child!

Square State Skate's Summer Skateboard Camps



Learn how to be safe and have fun on your skateboard while riding some of the best parks in the Front Range. We'll skate our "home park" in the morning - the brand new Team Pain built Lyons Skatepark - before jumping on our Skate Bus to check out different parks in the area, explore a variety of terrains, and visit multiple skater-owned skate shops. We'll explore all the different areas of street and skatepark riding, from safety and etiquette to advanced park riding. We will also go swimming once a week. Come make new friends, have fun, and be a part of our active skateboard community. 
Run by professional educators, our commitment to families and the community is paramount and our techniques are unmatched when it comes to helping kids grow and learn, both on and off their skateboard. Pleas bring a skateboard, helmet (other pads recommended), a healthy lunch, water bottle, sunscreen and some good energy.
