COVID-19 NOTICE:

Please note the following closures and public health guidelines currently in effect. 

Parks:
  • LaVern M. Johnson and Bohn Parks parking lots are open with 50% capacity and street parking is limited.
  • The Town of Lyons may begin a reservation only system at LaVern Johnson Park.
  • Restroom facilities are open. Guests must wear a mask when using the facilities and maintain at least 6 ft of distance from other users.  
  • All playgrounds will be opening with a maximum of 10 users, per State guidelines.
  • Recreation can be conducted in groups of 10 or fewer, outdoors, with participants spaced at least 6 feet apart, face coverings worn as feasible, and with appropriate sanitation and hygiene practices.
LaVern Johnson Park Camping
  • Tent camping is available. Showers are closed. Restrooms are available.
  • RV/camper camping is available for fully-contained units
General
Boulder County's social distancing and mask orders are still in effect. Parks visitors must comply with the following guidelines in Lyons:
  • Individuals over the age of 12 must wear masks or face coverings in public, when at least six feet between others cannot be maintained.  
  • Gatherings may not exceed 10 people.
  • Please do not travel more than 10 miles for outdoor recreation. We appreciate your cooperation as we work toward slowing the spread.

Bounded on three sides by the North St. Vrain Creek and sandstone cliffs, LaVern M. Johnson Park is a year-round community favorite. With an abundance of recreational opportunities, such as picnic areas, RV and tent camping, playground areas, the Lyons Whitewater Park, a splash pad, and an ice rink in the winter, the park is the perfect getaway to escape, and take in the beauty of Lyons!

The Whitewater Park beckons to kayakers and tubers to drop in and go for a ride. The quarter-mile horseshoe-shape park has 8 features that are spread out and contain big pools and eddies. 

LaVern Johnson Park is also home to wonderful picnic areas and shelter facilities that can be rented for events or parties.The park also has RV camping with full hookups that runs year-round, as well as tent camping, which is available April 1 through October 15.
