Kick-off Meeting

Background:

·         Nudged by policy support for Boulder County’s Sustainable Energy Plan but more importantly, inspired by community activity surrounding environmental issues and sustainability, we believe the citizens of Lyons have the skill, assets and will to “move the needle” towards a more self-reliant future.

Agenda:

·         Introduce ourselves and talk about our interests and/or motivation

·         Review & discuss (working) Mission Statement and cultural style

·         Establish an organizational framework for moving forward

• Presentation by Boulder County – Sustainable Energy Plan (to be confirmed)

·         Schedule next meeting

(Working) Mission Statement

·         Inspire, motivate and lead the community towards a future that is increasingly resilient and locally sustainable by prioritizing the reduction of human impact on environmental systems.

Cultural Style:

·         Focus on building a web of interconnectedness and success by fostering intentional interaction between community groups and partners

·         Allow for organic prioritization based on member skills and interests

·         Encourage ever-widening opportunities to fulfill our mission by adopting a meeting practice that invites and includes “non-member” groups and individuals to attend, speak, make suggestions and propose projects

Preliminary Organizational Framework:

·         Chairperson (Town/Policy Liaison & Primary contact)

·         Boulder County Liaison (SEP & other environmental programs)

·         Community Liaison (Chair of sub-committee)

o    Transportation, Energy & Housing

o    Food & Consumer Impacts

o    Community Integration & Outreach

·         Monthly meetings, sub committees meet separately and update at monthly meetings
