Utility Bills too High? Workshop Presents Education & Funds to Help Reduce Your Consumption
The Lyons Sustainable Future Commission is hosting a workshop to educate the community on improving the comfort and energy efficiency of their homes and to introduce programs and funding sources to help get started. Mark your calendar for the Residential Energy Efficiency Workshop, being held at the Walt Self Center on Tuesday, March 8 from 7:00 to 8:30 pm, featuring speakers from The Center for Resource Conservation, Boulder County’s EnergySmart Service and Xcel Energy. The evening begins with Home Energy 101, an introduction to understanding energy use, the first crucial step in decreasing energy bills and carbon footprint. A briefing on Boulder County’s EnergySmart Services comes next. Using funding acquired through Federal stimulus dollars, this service is designed to be a one-stop shop taking the customer from a home energy assessment through the implementation of major energy and money saving upgrades and assisting in applying for rebates and incentives. Finally, Xcel Energy will present their Responsible by Nature Efficiency Programs covering low cost energy audits, rebates to offset the expense of upgrading the building efficiency and Home Performance with Energy Star.
