On Monday, January 15, due to the snow and weather, ACC rescheduled the road work and upcoming traffic holds to Wednesday, January 17 as they set the girders for the new bridge over Left Hand Creek. They wanted to remind residents of this work and note an additional option for avoiding delays.
There will be 2 cranes set up to perform the bridge erection on Wednesday, January 17 setting eight 153’ long girders. The girders will be staged on the northern unpaved section of Neva Road requiring its closure. Traffic will be detoured onto the southern paved section of Neva that connects to US 36.
Trucks will start delivering girders around 9 a.m. on Wednesday. When the trucks arrive, there will be an approximate 20-minute closure of US 36 at the work zone while the girder is placed. Traffic will then be released until the next girder arrives and is ready to be set. The 20 minute closures will occur 8 times throughout the day. If this work continues into the 4:00 hour and causes notable traffic back-ups work will be suspended until after 6:00 p.m.
In addition to the larger detours to help ease traffic to/from Boulder and Lyons that are listed below, ACC and CDOT will have a small detour specific to the work zone. This detour will take drivers from US 36 via Neva/Niwot Road to 63rd and then back down to US 36 via Nelson Road. This route is highlighted on the map to the right as well as the other detour options that are less local to Left Hand Creek.
