Warm the Heart and Soul with Homemade Holiday Chai Tea!


 In this class you will learn about the tradition and origins of this wonderful comfort in a cup, how to modify your recipe with or without sweetness and caffeine, and how to make an instant version vs. a traditional brew. Instructor Kristen Gudmonson, a certified Clinical Herbalist with over 20 years of experience, will share with you some of the medicinal qualities and health benefits of the herbs that make up this sweet and spicy blend. Enjoy a sample as you learn to blend the herbs to make this delicious tea. Adorable holiday packaging for the tea is included in your class fee, so you can plan to take some home for someone you love. Come and make a few last minute gifts that are sure to please your family and friends!

Dine at the Roost & Tour the Lights of Longmont 

Age 60+? Join us on the VIA bus as we head to Longmont for a lovely dinner at The Roost followed by a specially selected route past all the best holiday lights of the city. Bring your camera and take some photos! the bus leaves Walt Self Senior Center at 5:30 pm and returns by 9:30 pm.

Monet Exhibit at the Denver Museum

Are you 60+? Hop on the VIA bus and join the town of Lyons Recreation Dept for a trip to see the "Claude Monet: The Truth of Nature" exhibit at the Denver Art Museum. This showing contains over 120 paintings spanning the whole of Monet's career and focuses on his love of nature. More information is available on the DAM website. This trip will be either Jan 13th OR Jan 15th, 2002, depending on ticket availability. You must be able to attend either day.

Volunteering with the Rocky Mountain Botanical Garden in Lyons

The Rocky Mountain botanical garden committee would like to have young helpers create our new garden! If you and/ or your child would like to be a part of this over the summer, please email Lisa Ramsey at to RSVP for how many people are coming.  

Starts June 1st
Who: Adults and Children ages 10+
When: Tuesdays 9:00 AM-11:00 AM and Sundays 9:00 AM-11:00 AM
What to bring: Hat, work gloves, water bottle, sturdy clothes and shoes (no flip flops), wear sunscreen and bring some snacks

**Sessions will be cancelled in the event of rain or inclement weather.
